The “blue tape walkthrough” is an important step before you close.

If you’re thinking about buying a new-construction home or are currently in the process, what happens at a home orientation meeting, or what I like to call a “blue tape walk-through.” The home orientation meeting occurs about one week before closing. During that meeting, you’ll go over any warranty information and discuss the major functions of the home, like the location of the water shut-off.

After that, you’ll have the opportunity to walk-through the house and put blue tape on any paint that needs touching up and green tape on any drywall that needs to be fixed. Then, you’ll go through the home inspection to make sure the builder has created a list of anything that needs to be completed in that final week before closing on the home. The builder wants to give you a great home, but you must take the time to go through it.

If you have any questions, reach out to me by phone or email. I’d love to help.
